With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, new energy vehicles are becoming more and more popular as a green travel mode. Among them, the power battery pack is a key component of new energy vehicles, and its performance is directly related to the vehicle's mileage and life. The power battery pack is composed of thousands of cells. During the use of new energy electric vehicles, as the number of charge and discharge cycles increases, the difference between each cell will gradually increase. The actual capacity of the battery pack depends on the capacity of the smallest cell, and the difference in cell capacity will directly affect the range. Because the battery pack's own balancing system is inefficient and ineffective, it is difficult to meet the needs of battery balancing. Therefore, maintenance personnel tend to use battery equalizers to maintain battery performance and increase the actual capacity of the battery pack.

Battery Balancing Principle

The principle of balancing is to minimize the voltage difference of the entire battery group by independently adjusting the battery current flow, thereby achieving charge balance and improving the actual capacity and cycle life of the entire battery group. There are two common balancing methods: active balancing and passive balancing. Active balancing achieves balancing by injecting current or discharging certain batteries in the battery pack; passive balancing generally refers to controlling the resistance switch to achieve balancing during the discharge process of the battery cell.

Portable battery pack balance maintenance instrument

The PBM-PW series of portable battery pack balance maintenance instruments from Guheng Nengheng adopts intelligent integrated charge and discharge control technology. It is developed to solve the problem of shortened battery pack cycle life due to the increased imbalance of each single cell after the power lithium batteries are connected in series. It also adopts proprietary balanced charge and discharge control technology to ensure that each single cell can reach its maximum capacity and has good voltage consistency, ensuring that the imbalance of the power lithium battery pack is controlled within the allowable range, thereby increasing the cycle life of the power lithium battery pack. The PBM-PW series of portable battery pack balance maintenance instruments supports three maintenance modes: parallel charge maintenance, parallel discharge maintenance, and balanced maintenance, and supports independent and series operation of the balancing unit. Real-time detection and monitoring of the voltage of each single cell, automatic calculation of charging or discharging energy, and support for automatic saving and export of test data.
